I want to thank you for your interest into a PostalAnnex franchise. You have now taken the first step into becoming your own boss and the exciting world of being in business for yourself.

When our company's co-founders Jack and Martha ("Marty") Lentz first started PostalAnnex in 1985, they filled a need out of necessity. At the time, Jack was running a consulting business out of his home. Having the problem of never finding the business services he needed without doing a lot of driving, he figured the time was right to start a company which offered a one-stop shopping solution for small and home-based business. In the many years since, we are very proud of the business Jack and Marty developed and that we have grown into. At PostalAnnex, we offer our customers convenience, exceptional service and to be their problem solver. We train our franchisees to be experts at what they do; we are all here to serve our customers.

I realize in looking into businesses there are many choices. As we have grown over the years, our goal at PostalAnnex was never to be the biggest, but always to be the best. The service we strive to give our customers is the same service we give in support of our PostalAnnex franchise owners.

Patrick Edd

Patrick has served at Annex Brands since 1991. In 2018, he was promoted to his current position as Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors. Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Company, Patrick sets the course for the Company’s policies and strategies, and provides reporting to the Company’s Board of Directors.

Patrick studied at San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration as an Accounting major. After college, he earned the license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the State of California.

Prior to his service at Annex Brands, Patrick spent four years as a financial auditor with the international accounting firm Touche Ross & Co. (currently known as Deloitte & Touche). He specialized in accounting for savings and loan companies, construction firms, broker dealers, mortgage banking entities, and insurance and real estate businesses.

Patrick’s community outreach includes currently serving as Immediate Past Chair for St. Paul’s Senior Services’ Operating Board, and currently serving in various volunteer capacities for the organization.

 


 

Sean P. Hilly, CFE

Sean Hilly, CFE

Sean has been with Annex Brands since 1991. In 2016, he was promoted to his current position as Executive Vice President. In this position, his responsibilities include: strategic planning, training, store buildouts, vendor relations, and Franchisee support.

Sean studied at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. Immediately after college, he spent two years as a professional cyclist before beginning his career in the industry as a manager of a retail mail and parcel center.

 


 

TanaSue Carpenter, CFE, CPA

TanaSue Carpenter, CFE, CPA

TanaSue joined Annex Brands in June 2012. In 2022 she was promoted to the second CFO in company history, and the first woman to hold the position. TanaSue handles the design, implementation, and supervision of all accounting functions and systems for Annex Brands. Her department assists both commercial and retail brands with franchise accounting, including the setup of individual location financial systems and their reporting functions.

TanaSue earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major from the University of Phoenix in 2003. Continuing her education, she earned a Master of Business Administration degree in 2006 from the same university. In 2015, TanaSue earned her license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the State of California.

 


 

MaryAnn Canup, CFE
Senior Vice President of Franchise Compliance

MaryAnn Canup, CFE

Mary Ann has been with Annex Brands since 1994. She was elevated to her current title of Senior Vice President of Franchise Compliance in 2019, making her the second woman to hold an Officer title in company history

Her duties include ensuring the Company’s compliance with franchise investment laws, managing franchise registration renewals and updates, and coordinating franchise resale transactions.

 


 

Ryan Heine, CFE

Ryan Heine, CFE

Ryan joined Annex Brands in 2002. In 2018, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Franchising.

Ryan’s responsibilities are to develop and expand the franchise systems of Annex Brands, Inc. worldwide, both through internal unit growth and assisting in the evaluation of external acquisition opportunities as they present themselves. He also assists in overseeing the Real Estate and Leasing function.

In his youth, Ryan attained the level of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

Ryan studied at the University of California-San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy. Prior to joining the Company, he worked in a career placement firm, assisting people transitioning from military service into positions with Fortune 500 firms.

 


 

Chris Kimball, CFE
Vice President of Real Estate & Leasing

Chris Kimball, CFE

Chris started with Annex Brands in 2007. In 2020 he was promoted to his current title as Vice President of Real Estate & Leasing. His latest promotion recognizes his continued contributions, and the importance of the real estate support function, by elevating it to a corporate officer level for the first time in company history.

Chris oversees site development for new franchise locations, supports existing franchisees in lease negotiations and issues, and assists with franchise financing. He is the direct link between real estate developers, brokers, property managers and the Home Office Franchising Team. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Virginia Tech University and a California Real Estate Broker’s License. Prior to joining Annex Brands, he oversaw the launch of new corporate accounts for a franchise network in the shipping and business industry.

Chris also volunteers as a youth soccer coach, and is involved with the Special Olympics of San Diego.

 


 

Michelle McKee, CFE
Vice President of Marketing

Michelle Mckee, CFE, Vice President of Marketing for Annex Brands, Inc.

Michelle joined Annex Brands in 2020. She was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 2021, making her the 4th woman to hold an Officer position. Her department is responsible for all marketing and communications initiatives for Annex Brands and the franchise system. Her department provides brand designs, marketing tools, programs, training, and support to guide franchisees in local marketing efforts, in addition to management of websites and digital marketing communications, plus 360Today.

Michelle is a seasoned marketing leader with 20 years’ experience across various industries including 10+ years at franchise brands like Jack in the Box, Flippin’ Pizza, and Sport Clips. Before joining Annex Brands, she led the in-house agency at Belmont Park beachfront amusement park where they managed 30+ entertainment, restaurants, and retail brands. Michelle holds a B.A. in Communication with a minor in TV, Film & Media from San Diego State University. She enjoys giving back to others and actively volunteers at the Emilio Nares Foundation, Toys4Tots, and Boys and Girls Clubs.

 


 

Dan Cox, CFE
Executive Director of Franchise Services

Dan Cox, CFE, Executive Director of Franchise Services for Annex Brands, Inc.

Dan originally joined Annex Brands as a PostalAnnex franchisee in 1999; in March 2005, he became the company’s Franchise Services Coordinator. In 2019, he was elevated to the position of Executive Director of Franchise Services. His primary responsibility is to manage the center support function for the retail business model; this includes providing initial and ongoing training, supporting the point-of-sale software system, assisting franchisees with operational questions, and assessing new products and vendors.

 


 

Brett Monson, CFE
Executive Director of Technology & Logistics

Dan Cox, CFE, Executive Director of Technology & Logistics for Annex Brands, Inc.

Brett joined Annex Brands as its Logistics Service Manager when Navis Pack & Ship was acquired in 2011; prior to that, he had been with Navis since 2005. In 2023, he was elevated to the position of Executive Director of Technology and Logistics. Brett oversees the strategy, design, implementation, and execution of ABConnect. 

He also leads the National Logistics Services team, which coordinates the fulfillment of orders created by the platform. In addition, Brett has been instrumental in expanding the freight carrier selection available to Annex Brands through negotiation of tariffs, implementation of technology integrations, relationship management, and back office functions.
